How Revenant Vetts Its Jet Operators: Safety Beyond the Brochure

An old tin engine war bird in a nice, well lit hangar, at night.

When you charter a private jet, you’re not just investing in comfort or convenience. You’re placing your trust in the operator, the crew, and the aircraft itself. At Revenant, we treat that responsibility with the weight it deserves.

A polished website or a smooth-talking sales rep doesn’t guarantee operational integrity. Anyone can claim to be safety-rated or compliant. We go far beyond the surface. We verify, investigate, and hold the bar high. Because safety should never be assumed. It should be confirmed, every time.

1. We Begin With Recognized Safety Audits

Every operator we use holds at least one respected third-party safety rating. We verify each one directly with the agency.

  • ARGUS Gold or higher

  • Wyvern Registered or Wingman

  • IS-BAO Stage 2 or above

If an operator doesn’t meet these standards, they’re simply not an option.

2. We Review Flight Records and Operator History

We don’t just take paperwork at face value. We dig into:

  • Certificate status, including any suspensions or violations

  • D085 aircraft listings and tail number verification

  • Crew experience, especially pilot time in type

  • Any accident, incident, or maintenance irregularities

  • Compliance with FAA-mandated rest and duty rules

If there’s a pattern or an outlier that raises questions, we move on to someone else.

3. We Speak to the Operations Team Directly

We don’t rely on what a charter rep tells us. When needed, we call the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot to get answers on aircraft readiness, crew schedules, or current maintenance cycles. We don’t leave room for assumptions.

4. We Always Confirm Insurance

Every trip requires active liability coverage, no exceptions. We verify:

  • Current coverage with policy dates in force

  • Liability minimums that align with aircraft size, typically $50M to $300M

  • Reputable underwriters that actually pay out

Cut-rate policies or vague paperwork don’t make the cut.

5. We Pay Attention to Operator Behavior

We’ve seen the tricks some operators try to pull, and we don’t tolerate it. We flag issues like:

  • Last-minute aircraft swaps without disclosure

  • Multiple pilot changes close to departure

  • Unusual FBO decisions meant to save money at your expense

  • Sloppy or delayed responses from operations

When something feels off, we trust our experience and walk away.

6. We Blend Technology With Industry Insight

We use tools like Wyvern, FlyEasy, Avinode, and FAA data to run checks. But that’s just one part of the process. We’ve been in the industry long enough to know who delivers and who just talks a good game. Data is helpful, but judgment is essential.

At Revenant, Safety Is Not a Sales Tactic. It’s a Core Value.

Our clients don’t need to know what a D085 is or how to cross-check a pilot’s time in type. That’s what we’re here for. You focus on the experience. We’ll handle the vetting behind the scenes.

Because when you fly with Revenant, you’re not just flying private. You’re flying protected, prepared, and precisely managed.
